Well, gumbootwireless is dead for now. We've recently added a wind turbine because the solar panels were insufficent to power the station through last winter. However the turbine is making quite a lot of noise and we have taken it off line to stay on the good side of the local residents. We plan to come back into action with a new turbine in the near future. The station continues to be available while the sun shines so don't expect it to be reliable.

The motherboard we were waiting for arrived about a month ago and we have built a case for it. The machine is a geode IB510 300mhz, 256MB RAM running Gentoo linux on a 512MB CF card. We are using an mPCI to PCI Four Slot Adapter with 3 Senao 802.11b mPCI cards leaving room for one 802.11g for a shorter link later on. The case is just cut down from an old tower case.

Two of the senao cards are currently running (SSIDs are gumboot1 and gumboot2).

Construction has finished and the first node is up and running. Currently there is no MAC filtering so feel free to connect up to the access point for testing purposes. We are waiting for the arrival of some new equipment then all 3 nodes will become available.
